1. Tensile strength test:

Tensile strength is one of the most critical properties of PVC sheets because it determines its ability to resist stretching and deformation. Tensile strength is defined as the maximum stress that a material can withstand when it is pulled apart before breaking. To perform a tensile strength test, the PVC sheet sample needs to be cut into a rectangle with specified dimensions. The sample is then loaded into a tensile tester and stretched at a constant rate until it breaks. The tensile strength is calculated by dividing the maximum load by the cross-sectional area of the sample.

2. Tear resistance test:

Tear resistance is another important property of PVC sheets because it measures their ability to resist tearing when subjected to sudden impact. The tear resistance test involves cutting the PVC sheet sample into a specified shape and then cutting a small notch in the center. The sample is then loaded into a tear tester and subjected to a rapid tensile load, causing the notch to expand into a tear. Tear resistance is calculated by dividing the force required to expand the notch by the sample thickness.

3. Flexural modulus test:

Flexural modulus is a measure of the stiffness of a material when it is bent. It is an essential property of PVC sheets used in construction and transportation applications, where the sheet needs to maintain its shape under load. The flexural modulus test involves placing a sample of PVC sheet on two supports and applying a load at the center until the sample bends to a specified angle. The flexural modulus is calculated by dividing the stress applied to the sample by its corresponding strain.

4. Impact Resistance Test:

Impact resistance is the ability of a PVC sheet to withstand sudden impacts, such as those encountered in automotive and healthcare applications. The impact resistance test involves dropping a weighted pendulum onto a sample of PVC sheet and measuring the energy absorbed by the sheet. The impact resistance is calculated by dividing the absorbed energy by the sheet thickness.

5. Heat Resistance Test:

For PVC sheets used in high temperature applications, such as electrical insulation and automotive components, heat resistance is critical. The heat resistance test involves exposing a sample of PVC sheet to high temperature for a period of time and measuring the extent of deformation, discoloration, and brittleness. The test is performed in a temperature-controlled oven and the results are compared to the desired performance requirements.
