1. UV Light → Yellowing & Brittleness


 Problem: Sunlight destroys PVC stabilizers. Strips turn yellow, crack, and get stiff.

 

 Fix: Use anti‑UV grade PVC. For existing ones, flip strips top‑to‑bottom regularly to spread wear. Apply window film if possible.

 

2. Oil & Solvents → Sticky & Hard Spots


 Problem: Chemicals like cutting fluids, gasoline, or strong cleaners leach out plasticizers – PVC loses flexibility and curls.

 

 Fix: Clean only with mild soap and water. Wipe oil spills immediately. Never use thinners or acetone.

 

3. Wrong Grade for Freezers → Shattering


 Problem: Standard PVC turns glass‑like below -5°C. In deep freezers (-25°C), it cracks and breaks easily.
